How many plumbers compete around Rayleigh?
As of October 2026, Google Maps shows 312 plumbing and heating businesses within 6km of Rayleigh. That is more than we found for Southend or Chelmsford, which surprises people.
The reason is geography. Rayleigh sits in the middle of a cluster of towns, so a 6km radius sweeps in Wickford, Hockley, Thundersley, Benfleet and the edge of Southend. So some of those 312 firms are not Rayleigh businesses at all. They are neighbours who drive in.
What does that mean for you? Competition is spread thin across lots of small towns. A website that properly covers each one, rather than just naming them in a footer, is the gap we build into.
What areas should a Rayleigh plumber's site cover?
Start with your home turf and spread out from there.
Rayleigh itself.
The High Street, Rayleigh Weir and the residential roads around Rayleigh Mount.
Hockley and Hullbridge.
Village feel, lots of family homes and bungalows, and Hullbridge's riverside streets on the Crouch.
Rochford and Ashingdon.
Close to Southend but with their own identity, and customers who often prefer a local name.
Thundersley, Benfleet and Hadleigh.
Technically Castle Point, but firmly part of most Rayleigh vans' weekly route.
A page for each place, with real detail about the work there, tells Google you serve the whole district. One generic "areas covered" list does not.
How does local housing shape your plumbing and heating work?
South east Essex has a lot of bungalows, especially around Hockley, Hullbridge and Rayleigh's quieter roads. Older ones often still have tanks in the loft, long pipe runs and heating systems that are ready for a swap. A page on bungalow heating upgrades talks straight to those owners.
Family semis and detached homes from the 1930s onwards make up much of the rest. That means combi installs, system boiler upgrades, bathroom refits and the odd unvented cylinder when people extend.
Older owners in particular tend to research carefully before letting someone in. A clear website with your photo, your registration details and plain prices helps them pick you.
What does a Rayleigh plumber's website include?
Service pages for your best jobs.
Boiler installs, servicing, bathroom fitting, leak repairs. Each page answers the questions customers actually ask.
Responsible credential display.
We know the rules on Gas Safe, WaterSafe and trade body logos and we build with them in mind, but the business owner signs off every claim.
Proof that is real.
Your genuine Google reviews linked or embedded, never written for you. Fake reviews are banned under the DMCC Act 2024.
A short quote form.
Name, postcode, job type, photo. Done in under a minute on a phone.

How do you collect reviews the right way?
Reviews matter a lot in small towns, where people ask neighbours and check Google before letting anyone in.
The rules are strict. The DMCC Act 2024, in force since April 2025, bans fake reviews and concealed incentivised reviews. So no paying for reviews, no writing your own and no offering discounts in exchange without saying so.
What works is simple and honest:
- Ask every happy customer. Straight after the job, while they are pleased.
- Make it easy. A short link by text or email that opens your Google review form.
- Reply to every review. Good or bad, politely and briefly.
Your website then links to those genuine reviews, so a Hockley homeowner can read them in one tap.
What does it cost to keep the site running?
After launch, our care plan is £50 a month. It covers hosting, updates, backups and small edits, with no minimum term.
You own the domain and the website either way. If you ever want to move it, it goes with you.

Frequently asked questions
Why does Rayleigh show more plumbing firms than Southend?
Because the 6km circle around Rayleigh reaches into neighbouring towns. As of October 2026 it captures 312 plumbing and heating listings on Google Maps, which can include firms based in places like Wickford, Benfleet or the western edge of Southend.
Can my website target Hockley, Hullbridge and Rochford separately?
Yes. Each gets its own area page about the homes and jobs there, which helps Google show you to people searching from each place.
Lots of my customers live in bungalows. Is that worth mentioning?
Yes. Bungalows have their own heating and plumbing quirks, such as long pipe runs and loft-based tanks, and a page about them speaks directly to a big slice of local homeowners.
I am based in Thundersley. Should my site say Rayleigh or Castle Point?
Both, if you work in both. We usually lead with the town names customers actually type, then add pages for Thundersley, Benfleet and Hadleigh.
Do I need SEO as well as a website?
Not straight away. Every site we build has the local SEO basics in place at launch. Ongoing SEO from £497 a month is there if you want to push harder.
Can I keep my existing domain name?
Yes. You own your domain and we build the new site on it, keeping any pages that already rank where it makes sense.
